Microdosing Cannabis to Ease Stress
REDUCE STRESS & ENHANCE PERFORMANCE
Microdosing is a technique in which the consumer takes a small and precisely measured quantity of a substance for therapeutic purposes. Microdosing allows the consumer to have more control of the experience they wish to have when consuming cannabis. Starting out with a small dose allows the patient to experience the psychoactive effects of cannabis gradually while still receiving the therapeutic benefits.
MICRODOSING SUPPORTS ECS TONE
One of the main reasons cannabis is such a powerful and effective medicine is because it activates and supports your endocannabinoid system. The ECS is a vast communication web which keeps all the systems of the body in sync with one another. When we consume small doses of cannabis our ECS uses these phytocannabinoids as needed. Excess consumption can sometimes over activate the system and deregulate the communication. Honing in on your individualized dose of cannabis is important to bring balance to your system and achieve the wellness experience you wish.
IMPROVE YOUR RESILIENCE TO STRESS
We know our bodies are constantly creating messenger molecules (endocannabinoids) which are compounds similar to those found in the cannabis plant. Your body produces endocannabinoids on demand to reduce inflammation caused by stress as it supports the body to maintain balance. Under chronic stress your endocannabinoid system can become overworked and collapse. Supplementing with small amounts of phytocannabinoids can support your endocannabinoid system (ECS) to function optimally.
FIND YOUR OPTIMAL DOSE
Since we are all biologically unique, it is important to find the appropriate dosage of phytocannabinoids to support your bodies needs. If you feel intimidated to begin experimentation, microdosing is a great way to tiptoe into the water. Too often new cannabis consumers find themselves feeling anxious or “too high” when medicating which leaves the user with the conclusion that cannabis is not for them. The psychoactive effects of Tetrahydrocannabidiol (THC) can be intimidating so starting low and slow is a good method to ensure you don’t overactive your system and experience more psycho-activity than wanted.
1. START LOW AND SLOW
A consistent low dose of cannabis is safe and effective at helping you manage stress and rebalancing your endocannabinoid system. The optimal dosage is different for each of us and changes as our tolerance and ability to absorb these compounds changes. A 2-5mg dosage of THC is a low dosage to start with. If concerned about the psychoactive effects, start with a high CBD : THC ratio. CBD lessens the psychoactive effects of THC.(4) It is often easier to administer a specific dosage using a tincture, capsule or edible rather than inhaling / vaporizing.
2. FIND YOUR PREFFERRED METHOD
After you have honed in the appropriate dosage you feel safe and comfortable using, it is valuable to experiment with different types of products. There are many methods to medicating, some of our favorites include infused tea, honey, topical application and sublingual tinctures. Find your favorite to create your own ritual using cannabis for wellness on a daily basis.
3. RECORD YOUR EXPERIENCE
Keep track of your experience using cannabis can help you hone in your medicating preferences especially in the beginning as you are experimenting with dosages and products. Record the product / strain / dose, checking in before you consume and again as you experience the effects of the product.
